Waterfalls, White Water and Trails in Jackson County North Carolina

Jackson County has some of the most outstanding outdoor points of interest in all the Blue Ridge Smoky Mountains. You can enjoy mom-approved rafting, kayaking, canoeing, and tubing on the Tuckasegee River, or choose the excitement of white water rafting in the neighboring Nantahala River Gorge. For anglers there's an abundance of opportunities for fly-fishing and bass fishing in Jackson County. Hiking short and long trails to hidden waterfalls or remarkable overlooks are scattered throughout the county; all one has to do is make a choice and enjoy the adventure. There's also regional mountain climbing and repelling, zip-line canopy tours, challenging mountain bike trails, plus hiking and backpacking along a section the legendary Appalachian Trail.

There are literally dozens of opportunities awaiting your next outdoor adventure while visiting Jackson County. Listed below are some of these great opportunities along with some information and locations, beginning with waterfalls and trails located in the mountainous region of southern Jackson County. Following those are many more opportunities available in the middle and northern end of the county, taking visitors from the ancient Blue Ridge Mountains to the very top of the grand old Smokies themselves.
